Encounters
This collection was created as a depiction of what it looks like to encounter God and how it changes us. It represents both the initial journey with the Lord but also our lifelong process of transformation as we continue to walk with Him.
New Creation/Living Waters

This painting represents the process that we go through both when we first give our lives to Christ, and even in cycles throughout the rest of our lives.
Overall Scripture: The Bible says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The Heart Transformation: The heart transforming from stone into flesh as the blood of Jesus drips down references Ezekiel 36:26, where the Lord tells Ezekiel to speak this word over Israel (which we also benefit from as coheirs who have been grafted in): "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh."
The River of Living Water: The river flowing from the tomb of the resurrected Christ and causing new growth where there was once a cracked desert land references several scriptures:
John 7:38, where Jesus says, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water"
Romans 6:4, "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life"
Isaiah 43:19, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
When we make the decision to surrender our lives to the Lord, it initiates a spiritual and supernatural transformation within us. Where there was once hardness in our hearts from feeling broken, bitter, angry, depressed, etc., the Lord comes in and brings healing and softens our hearts into hearts of flesh, full of His love.
Where we were once empty and void, Jesus' death and resurrection has given us access to be filled with rivers of living water—abundant life and complete fulfillment as we now get to dwell in His presence. Dry and seemingly dead or too far gone areas of our life are revived and renewed. This is not only at the beginning of our walk with the Lord but as we continually walk with Him, we get to experience this continual process of transformation, healing, and redemption, becoming more and more like who God always created us to be.
We Become Who We Behold

This painting represents the transformative power of beholding Jesus, and the choice we're given to either burn with Him or remain unchanged (and in the end burn without Him).
Overall Scripture: The Bible says, "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).The Eyes Like Fire: The eyes ablaze with flame and the white hair reference the description of Jesus in Revelation: "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire" (Revelation 1:14). This is how John saw the risen Christ—not as He walked the earth, but as He is now, in His glory and holiness.
The Figure in the Flame: Within the fire of His eyes is a figure—us. God says, "You can either burn with Me, and for Me, or you can burn without Me." He presents us all with this choice, and we must choose wisely, no matter how uncomfortable the fire may be.
To burn for Him is to be refined by Him—purified the way silver and gold are purified in fire. "But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire... And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver" (Malachi 3:2-3). Romans 8:18 says, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” It goes on saying how the earth is waiting for the sons of God to be revealed. As followers of Christ our walk with God is meant to not only change our lives but impact this world, and that starts with surrendering to the process of being refined and purified by the Lord. It doesn’t always feel great to go through this process, but in the end it is so worthwhile. While there are some with His fire inside, there are sadly others who have gone untouched by that same flame, living only for themselves and not being transformed into the image of Christ.
God says, "Drink the cup of My suffering; don't resist. Then you will be crowned with the crown of life." This echoes Jesus's own words to His disciples, "Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of...?" (Matthew 20:22), and the promise given to those who remain faithful: "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life" (Revelation 2:10).
As we choose to behold Him and lay down our lives to burn for Him, it becomes like a wildfire that spreads, igniting many others. He desires that none would perish, but that we would seek Him, burn, and let His fire transform us—from glory to glory, until we become who we behold.
Come Up Higher

This painting is a representation of both the secret place/prayer closet and our prayer lives. As we consistently seek the Lord and spend intimate time with Him, we experience continual growth and transformation.
Overall Scripture: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
The Blue Room/Walls: The color blue holds rich biblical meaning and deep significance within Hebrew culture. Blue is frequently associated with the priesthood, the heavens, divine revelation, and royalty. It is often mentioned in the context of sacred garments, tabernacle furnishings, and other religious artifacts, reflecting its importance in the worship and religious practices of the Israelites. Historically and biblically, it was also one of the rarest and most expensive colors to dye with.
The Glowing Hands: The hands of God reaching down to touch us and pull us up higher and closer to Him. The ceiling is absent to represent the access we gain when we seek the Lord—we dwell in His presence and under an open heaven.
The Gallery Wall: Inspired by the gallery wall in my own office and studio, each framed piece or item hanging on the wall carries its own symbolic meaning:
The Butterfly: of the Painted Lady species, and spiritually represents change, growth, death to self, and transformation.
The Clock: Painted to reflect 3:33 AM, symbolizing completion and wholeness. This hour falls during the fourth prayer watch, a time believed to have a heightened level of spiritual activity in the atmosphere, often when people testify to experiencing dreams, supernatural encounters, and visitations from God.
The Two Small Oval Frames: These feature the Hebrew letters Lamed (top frame) and Vav (bottom frame). In the Hebrew alphabet, Lamed is the tallest letter and the only one that rises above the "ceiling" line of all the other characters; because of this, it traditionally represents ascension, aspiration, and reaching into the spiritual realm above the physical world. The word Vav means "hook" and symbolically represents connection and alignment.
The Path with Red Flowers: An older painting I created back when I was in school, representing our overarching journey with Christ.
The Framed Sheet Music: Represents worship as a whole and features the beginning of one of my favorite worship songs, "Give Me Jesus" by UPPERROOM.
Checker-Diamond Floor: Represents the mysteries of God combined with the revelation He releases when we spend time in prayer and intimacy with Him.
Child Reaching Up to the Hands of God: Represents our call as believers to be childlike and approach the Lord as our Father without fear or hesitation. She is dressed in purple yet casual clothes to represent the royal bloodline we have been grafted into as coheirs with Christ. The casual nature of the clothing symbolizes that we do not have to work hard for it, because Jesus paid the ultimate price for us to receive this inheritance.
The secret place is where we get to know God and worship Him for who He is, as well as partnering with Him through prayer for His will to be done in our lives, our communities, and all over the world. Oftentimes, the secret place is also where God challenges us, calling us to repentance and to new levels of maturity and understanding of our identity in Christ. It is a space where we can have supernatural encounters with the Lord as He desires—a sacred space where the Lord can take you from glory to glory and from faith to faith. Ultimately, the condition of every part of our lives is a result of not only what we do in the secret place, but how much intentional time we spend there with Jesus.
